GFI Music label announces the release of the 3rd full length CD from Roots Rocker Brian Lindsay
The Monkey, the Tango and the Boogaloo
“She’s my little crash, boom, bang!” Testifies Brian Lindsay on the opening cut, “What Does Love Mean to You,” from his just released, GFI Music CD ….. The Monkey, the Tango and the Boogaloo. The eleven cuts created, corralled & cut in Rochester, New York feature wasteland guitars, keys, sax solo’s, powerful vocals, and “all in” harmonies. Go deep as contained within this ambitious release are themes, grooves and rockin’ rhythms … accessible to all. The Monkey, the Tango and the Boogaloo should predictably land a chart position on today’s radio as did the previously released East Side of the River (The Crossing) and King of the Mountain (Esperanza). Brian Lindsay might just be the skinniest man in show business but his oversized vocal & guitar style when combined with an electrifying stage presence is reminisce of The Boss, Van the Man and Warren Zevon.
Going for AAA Radio adds on 10/13, featuring the first focus track, Heart and Soul, a song about a soldier going on one last tour of duty before coming home and fulfilling the promise to his significant other to help raise their family.
CD is Recommended for fans of Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Steve Earle and Warren Zevon
Lindsay’s first solo record “The Crossing” featured the single “Eastside of the River” that charted for eleven straight weeks. It was added to over 45 Triple-A format radio stations nationally and was played and critiqued globally. The success from “The Crossing” helped secure an invitation to perform on the coveted OnStage concert series recorded and broadcast from Rochester’s PBS affiliate, WXXI TV.
His second album release, “Esperanza” (GFI label, Ontario NY), built on that success and was added to more than 60 Triple-A format stations. The song “King of the Mountain” held the #1 spot at commercial station WOCM 98.1 (Ocean City, MD) for two straight weeks. Lindsay hit the US charts again on the National Roots Music Report alongside artists such as Steve Earle, Bob Dylan, and Jon Mayer. Following that, Brian was asked to perform on Beyond the Lyric - a telecast showcasing some of Upstate New York’s finest songwriters. Another credit, Brian’s "King of the Mountain" was selected for ESPN's NASCAR Now national broadcast.
The Brian Lindsay Band has shared the stage with The Smithereens, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Shooter Jennings, Donna the Buffalo and Herman’s Hermits’ Peter Noone to name a few.
ALBUM REVIEW: "The Monkey, The Tango, and the Boogaloo"
By FRANK DE BLASE rochestercitynewspaper.com
The record company is going to have to front me another copy of Brian Lindsay's "The Monkey, The Tango, and the Boogaloo," because I ate the first one. No shit, I got done with the preliminary spin, smeared some peanut butter on it and ate it. Good records call to mind comparisons and metaphors, but only the truly great ones can be called delicious. Lindsay is one of my favorite singers of the hardcore troubadour ilk and he comes out thundering on this new album's first track — and my new fave — "What Does Love Mean To You?" like a runaway tractor. "The Bully" is a tres cool tug-o-war between Jersey blue-eyed soul and straight-up rock 'n' roll. "Everyday" is a classic example of urban Americana; a "just right" blend of red clay and asphalt. "Seven Days Seven Nights" with its snake shake and voodoo is a new harder rockin' side to Lindsay, I've only, up to this point, heard live. The man even gets down with a pretty piano ballad toward the end of the affair with "King Of Broken Hearts." "The Monkey, The Tango, and the Boogaloo" is an 11-song send up to an era when LPs were enjoyed front to back, not just as collections of potential hits. This is a work of art I highly recommend you spend some time with. In fact get two; one to share with a friend ... or eat.
